Kedrowski named Northeast Higher Education District’s Vice President of Finance

Dr. Sue Collins, President of the Northeast Higher Education District, is pleased to announce Ms. Karen Kedrowski will join the District as Vice President of Finance beginning March 2, 2011.

Kedrowski has served Minnesota State Colleges and Universities since 1995 in the role of System Budget Director and Finance Division Program Director. She also served in a variety of capacities with the former Minnesota Technical College System Office from 1987-1995.

Kedrowski holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Metropolitan State University and a master’s of science degree in Higher Education Administration from St. Cloud State University.

“Karen brings stellar skills and a wealth of experience in financial management, measurement of organization financial health, budgeting practices, and financial analysis and forecasting to the District,” said Collins.  “Her intimate knowledge of Minnesota State Colleges and Universities’ financial resource management and allocation processes will be a tremendous advantage to the District as we plan for the challenges of continued budget reductions in light of the state’s budget deficit.”

In her role as Vice President of Finance, Kedrowski will be responsible for District-level financial planning, providing research and data analysis of spending patterns and revenue/expenditure forecasting, and implementation of a shared services model that facilitates the sharing of resources among the five colleges of the District.

“I am honored to be appointed to this position and look forward to being part of a team of very talented and dedicated faculty and staff.  I will use my extensive experience in higher education finance to position the District colleges for long-term financial stability,” says Kedrowski.

The Northeast Higher Education District, which is made up of Hibbing Community College, Itasca Community College in Grand Rapids, Mesabi Range Community and Technical College in Eveleth and Virginia, Rainy River Community College in International Falls, and Vermilion Community College in Ely, serves more than 7,000 students in credit courses annually and provides a variety of educational programs and delivery options.
